Turkish Foreign Minister, Italian Counterpart Hold Talks on Gaza
Tajani described the dialogue as lengthy and emphasized shared commitment: “We support the mediation efforts of Türkiye and other regional partners to convince Hamas to accept the peace plan. It is time to end the hostilities, ensure humanitarian assistance to the civilian population, and promote a lasting political solution that provides for the establishment of the Palestinian state,” he stated on the US social media platform X.
Both officials are monitoring the Global Sumud Flotilla, currently en route to Gaza to deliver humanitarian aid and challenge the blockade. Tajani stressed the urgent need to avoid further escalation.
This diplomatic exchange follows U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement on Monday of a 20-point framework at a White House event with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, aiming to halt Israel’s military actions in Gaza and establish a provisional authority to rebuild the territory.
